Friendly House, Inc., is a 501(c) 3 non-profit agency located in Phoenix, Arizona whose primary function is to provide a variety of educational and social service programming aimed at addressing the needs of low-income individuals and families, vulnerable populations and diverse communities. Additionally, Friendly House operates a charter school, Academia del Pueblo, with the mission to provide an academic environment which promotes a culture of high expectations to students from diverse cultures. Friendly House was organized in 1920 as the Phoenix Americanization Committee by a group of Phoenix citizens with the assistance of the United States Department of Education. In our 100-year history, the work of Friendly House has resulted in building resilient communities that are helping to spur economic development, stabilize neighborhoods and revitalize our city.


Position Summary

The purpose of the facilitator is to deliver evidence-based Active Parenting of Teens and Wyman’s Teen Outreach Program, Love Notes 3.0 and approved ADHS TPP curricula to youth and parents in school and community-based sites. The facilitator is responsible for creating and fostering relationships with new sites and implementing both programs with fidelity. The Wyman TOP Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program is delivered over 9 months and consists of 32 sessions (45 minutes), which include lessons and community service-learning engagement opportunities for youth. The Active Parenting of Teens Program is delivered in 2 (2 hour) sessions.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Associate degree from an accredited College/University.
  • 1 year of experience working with youth and conducting public workshops/trainings/classes.
  • Must be able to become certified facilitator for Wyman’s Teen Outreach Program and Active Parenting of Teens
  • AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card (IVP)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field.
  • 3 years of experience working with youth and conducting public workshops/trainings/classes.

Preferred Certifications/Registration:

  • Wyman Teen Outreach Program and/or LoveNotes
  • Active Parenting of Teens

Special Skills:

  • Ability to develop and foster positive and professional relationships with youth
  • Experience delivering teen pregnancy prevention programs
  • Knowledge of facilitation and training engagement with youth and adults
  • Possess strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively outreach to parents and community sites to secure implementation sites
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage time
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program utilizing the evidence-based curriculum, Wyman’s TOP (Teen Outreach Program) or any other ADHS TPP approved curricula.
  • Secure Active Parenting of Teens sites and facilitate workshops.
  • Collaborate with other Arizona Department of Health Services funded agencies providing teen pregnancy prevention services.
  • Provide follow-up contact with students over the phone to ensure participation and attendance.
  • Attend individual and group supervised meetings to discuss programmatic goals, updates, and field challenges.
  • Attend community meetings, events and workshops for purposes of program outreach and networking.
  • Ensure that program data is accurately entered into the database in a timely manner and files are locked in a secure cabinet to ensure confidentiality.
  • Meets and coordinates with School administrators and liaisons to plan most effective timeline for project workshops on campus.
